MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcat softball squad played host to No. 13 Lindsey Wilson Tuesday afternoon in a doubleheader at the Kahlden Complex.
The Cats had no answer for the hot bats of the Blue Raiders. LWC banged out 14 hits in route to an 11-5 win in game one. Bethel had 11 hits of their own. Each team left nine runners on base.
Trailing 6-0 in the bottom of the fifth the Lady Wildcats rallied with five runs but the Raiders bounced back with five unanswered runs to win by six.
Iesha Kizer knocked in two runs. Melanie Alexander, Hollee Henson and Lexee Miller each drove in single runs. Alexis Wheeler had three hits for the Lady Cats.
Maddie Cochran suffered the loss while Hannah Epperson picked up the Raider victory.
Game two saw Lindsey Wilson jump out to a four run lead with four runs in the first. The visitors from the Commonwealth added four runs in the third, one in the fourth and five in the fifth. LWC pounded out 20 hits. Bethel committed six errors in the contest.
Emily Lunn, Amanda Perry and Makenzie Caldwell each drove in a run for the Lady Wildcats.
Maddie Cochran was charged with the loss. Taylor Slade picked up the Raider win.
Bethel fell to 2-2 while the Lady Raiders remained unbeaten at 6-0.
The Lady Cats hit the road traveling to the Gulf Shores Invitational this weekend. They play six games in the three day event beginning with LSU-Alexandria and Culver-Stockton Friday. Game times and opponents posted here on the softball page at www.bethelathletics.com.
