MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats opened their season with an impressive doubleheader sweep of William Woods Thursday afternoon at the Kahlden Complex in McKenzie. The Cats won game one 6-3 and then came from behind in game two to win 2-1. William Woods fell to 2-4 on the season.
Bethel scored two runs in the second and three in the fourth in game one. The Lady Cats committed four errors but rapped out 12 hits to win. Iesha Kizer, Gillian Grahn, Alexis Wheeler, Maddie Cochran, Lexee Miller and Makenzie Caldwell each drove in single runs for Bethel. Jezabelle Quintana picked up the win while Madison Ausfahl was charged with the Owls loss. Quintana allowed just four hits in seven innings.
In game two the Lady Wildcats scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to win. Hollee Henson drove in both runs. Billie Douglas went the distance allowing just five hits to pick up the victory. Brittany Roady suffered the William Woods loss.
Bethel returns to action February 22 hosting Grace College at the Kahlden Complex.
