HATTIESBURG, MS –The Bethel Lady Wildcats split their doubleheader with No. 12 William Carey in Hattiesburg Saturday afternoon. Bethel won game one 2-1 but the Crusaders came back with a 4-1 victory in game two.
The Lady Wildcats snapped a six game losing streak in the first game of the twin bill. Skyla Stanfield's single drove in Ciara Aragon and Iesha Kizer in the top of the sixth. Both teams had four hits in the game. Casey Wade went the distance and pitched out of a seventh inning jam to gain the victory. Bethel beat WCU ace Hannah Moak.
Stanfield drove in the only Bethel run in game two. The Crusaders outhit Bethel 7-6. Billie Douglas suffered the loss while Farrah Nicholas picked up the win for WCU.
The Lady Wildcats are 14-34 overall and 8-20 in the SSAC. William Carey moved to 31-13 and 17-9.
The Lady Wildcats travel to Trevecca Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. They close out the regular season Wednesday hosting CBU in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
