BLUE MOUNTAIN, MS –Billie Douglas fired a four hit shutout in game two of Bethel's doubleheader at Blue Mountain Tuesday allowing the Lady Wildcats to garner a split with the Lady Toppers. Bethel won 2-0 after falling in game one 4-1.
Bethel scored both runs in the third. After a Lexee Miller walk Maddie Cochran doubled to put Bethel up 1-0. Casey Wade then singled to drive in Cochran to make it 2-0. Bethel outhit BMC 6-4. Paige Taylor suffered the Topper loss.
In game one Madisen Adkins drove in Ciara Aragon with an RBI double in the top of the fifth. The Toppers scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth and it proved to be enough for a Topper win. Wade suffered the loss while Montana Smith picked up the BMC win. The Toppers outhit Bethel 10-3.
Bethel finished the day 10-18 overall and 4-6 in the SSAC. Blue Mountain is 10-13 and 3-5.
Bethel's game at UTM scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled.
The Lady Wildcats return home this weekend as they host No. 15 Mobile Friday in a SSAC doubleheader beginning at 1:30 p.m. They face No. 9 William Carey Saturday at 1 p.m. in a conference twin bill.
