MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats dropped to 0-4 on the year dropping a doubleheader to visiting Grace College (IN) 9-7 and 13-9 Friday afternoon at Wildcat Field. Grace moved to 2-0 on the young season. The twin bill saw the teams combine for 38 runs, 49 hits and 15 errors.
The Lady Cats trailed 6-0 after four innings in game one but rallied to give themselves a chance. A late flurry of runs by both teams saw Grace hold on for the two run win. Grace had 13 hits and committed two errors. Bethel had 11 hits and committed five errors. Iesha Kizer drove in four runs while teammate Emmi Thurmond had three RBI's. Doris Knight was the winner while Billie Douglas was charged with the loss.
Game two saw Bethel take an 8-3 lead after three innings but Grace roared back with a six-run fifth inning and won 13-9. Bethel had 11 hits and committed five errors. Grace had 16 hits and had three errors. Hannah Hebster was the winner with Knight picking up the save. Maddie Cochran suffered the loss. Kizer drove in two runs. Lexee Miller, Madisen Adkins, Julia Abney, Keely Jordan and Melissa Williams each drove in single runs for the Wildcats.
The squads combined to strand 38 runners on the day.
The Lady Wildcats return to action February 27 hosting Trevecca in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
