GALLATIN, Tenn. - The No. 16 Bethel Lady Wildcats had no trouble winning their third straight game Saturday with an 89-37 victory over the Welch Flames in Gallatin, Tennessee. Bethel improved to 10-2 on the season.
The Lady Wildcats took care of business early running out to a 31-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. They led 49-19 at the half.
Bethel hit 14 three's in the game and shot 41 percent overall from the floor hitting 32-of-77 attempts. The Lady Cats had a commanding margin on the boards out rebounding Welch 56-31.
Myah Taylor led Bethel with 21 points while hitting six three's on the day. Jaden Green had 12 points and five assists. Freshman teammate Tasia Jones had 12 points. Madison Steppee scored 11 and Jesica Keith had eight points in the game. Keith pulled down a career high 13 rebounds.
Caitlyn Braxton led the Flames with 15 points.
Coach Chris Nelson commented, "It was good for us to get everyone a bunch minutes today and play some different line ups. We got off to a hot start early and were fortunate to never look back. It gave our staff the opportunity to work on our depth and some different looks on the defensive side of the ball. Our point guard play was great with Jayden and Tasia splitting the time and both scoring and running the show. It was good to see Jesica get in and do some work on the block and rebound and take some charges. We look forward to next week's challenges with Murray State and Martin Methodist and hopefully finishing our first semester on a strong note."
The Lady Cats return to action Thursday traveling to Murray, Kentucky for an exhibition against the Racers with action beginning at 6 p.m.
