KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After a 4-0 start, the Bethel Lady Wildcats received votes in the first regular-season edition of the 2017 NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, released Tuesday by the national office.
The Lady Wildcats beat LSU-Alexandria 1-0 Sunday to capture their fourth straight victory to open the season. The 4-0 start is the best for a Lady Wildcat squad since 2003.
Bethel is 2-0 at home and 2-0 on the road this season. Among Bethel's wins is a 2-1 upset of No. 18 John Brown University this past weekend.
Danielle Krzyzaniak of Bethel (Tenn.) was named SSAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Krzyzaniak totaled 16 saves and allowed only one goal in 180 minutes. She posted 10 saves in the upset win and six more in a 1-0 shutout over LSU-Alexandria.
The Lady Wildcats hit the road for three straight games. They travel to Freed-Hardeman Thursday for a 5 p.m. match.
