HATTIESBURG, MS – Two hot teams squared off in their first SSAC games of the season Friday afternoon in Hattiesburg. Bethel, winners of five straight met William Carey, winners of five straight and ranked No. 10 in the nation.
A five run third inning by WCU proved to be too much for the Lady Wildcats to overcome in game one falling 7-4 to the Crusaders. Bethel had nine hits in the game but William Carey pounded out 15 hits in their 20th win of the season. Caylee Crews led Bethel with three hits and three RBI's. Dominque Todd drove in the other run for Bethel. Rachel Hickman picked up the WCU win while Brooke Baucum suffered the loss for the Lady Cats.
WCU's Hannah Moak fired a three-hitter in game two propelling the Crusaders to an 8-1 victory. Mady Kate Gantt had all three hits for the Lady Wildcats. Casey Wade suffered the loss.
The Lady Wildcats fell to 9-5 overall and 0-2. WCU improved to 21-2 and 2-0.
