CONWAY, AR –He had to wait a little longer than he and his team had wanted but Bethel's Coach Larry Geraldi and his Lady Wildcats would finish the day with a sweet win in the second game of their doubleheader in the Central Baptist College Meltdown in Conway, Arkansas Friday. The Lady Wildcats beat Bacone 9-5 and handed their coach his 200th career win.
Alex Turner slugged a three-run homer to spark the Lady Wildcats. Freshman Madisen Adkins went the distance for her first collegiate victory.
The Lady Wildcats appeared to be in good shape after scoring a run in the top of the eighth in game one against Ottawa. Emmi Thurmond's sacrifice fly had driven in Iesha Kizer to give the Lady Cats a 2-1 lead but Ottawa's Alexa Romero spoiled the party for the Lady Wildcats with a one-out two run homer to beat Bethel 3-2. Turner had driven in Bethel's only other run in the first inning. Casey Wade was the hard luck loser for Bethel.
Bethel meets No. 1 ranked and defending national champion Oklahoma City Saturday at 9 a.m.
They play their home opener February 23 at 11 a.m. against Crowley's Ridge.
