Lady Cats Beat Brescia at Crisp

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats returned home Tuesday night and ran their record to 6-5 with a 91-53 win over the visiting Bearcats of Brescia University. Brescia fell to 2-4 on the year. Bethel leads the all-time series over the Bearcats 7-0. The Lady Wildcats continued their home dominance in Crisp Arena moving to 83-12 all-time in the building.

It was Bethel's fourth game in five days but the Lady Cats showed no ill effects of the challenging schedule. They scored 31 points in the first quarter and led 31-11. The 31 points is the highest scoring quarter of the season for Bethel.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE GAME:

Laurhen Pickett scored a career high 19 points. She also grabbed a game high 14 rebounds. It was her third double-double of the season.

Shamon Pearson's ten points gives her 1,240 career points. She moved past former Bethel great Teena Carter for eighth on the all-time scoring list.

Jasmine Whittemore hit two three-pointers giving her 126 career treys. She is 11th on Bethel's all-time list.

Bethel's 91 points is the second most scored in a game this season. The Lady Cats are 5-0 when scoring 70 or more points in a game. They are 20-0 when scoring 70 and more dating back to Last year.

Bethel had seven three's in the win. They have hit at least one three or more in 372 straight games.

Bethel had a 66-26 advantage in points in the paint.

The Lady Cats had a commanding 53-20 advantage in rebounds. They are 6-1 when they win the battle of the boards.

Bethel is 6-1 when they lead at the half and 6-0 when they out shoot their opponent.

Coach Chris Nelson. "Our ladies played well tonight. This was our fourth game in five nights and it was important to get an early lead and be able to play a lot of people. There were some mistakes but overall we are pleased with our play and outcome. We will take a day off and refresh our minds and bodies as we prepare for Martin Methodist." He added, "MMC is a tough place to play and we better be ready."

Bethel opens conference play against arch-rival Martin Methodist Saturday in Pulaski. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WEIO, 100.9 and at www.thefarmradio.com
