MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The No. 11 Bethel Lady Wildcats never trailed in their home game against Life University Saturday night running out to a 22-9 lead after the first quarter. They went on to lead 35-20 at the half and then outscored the visitors from Georgia 34-21 in the second half to win 74-46.

The Cats moved to 5-3 while Life fell to 4-5.

Shamon Pearson was one of the story lines of the game. Pearson popped in a game high 21 points. Her points moved her past former Bethel great Jana Roney for ninth in Bethel's all-time scoring list. She has 1, 210 career points. Morgan Martin continued her excellent play with 14 points. Laurhen Pickett came within a rebound of another double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

The Wildcats shot 48 percent connecting on 30 –of -62 shots. They knocked down eight three's and out rebounded LU 39-34.

Bethel's defense held the Eagles to just 23 percent from the floor. Life was 18-of-76 from the floor. Tierra Lindsey led Life with 14 points.

Coach Chris Nelson was pleased with the victory. "Our young ladies played well. We defended well and held them to just 18 percent from behind the three-point line. Balance play and unselfish in the offensive court continues to improve. I was pleased with our paint production as we had a 48-28 margin."

Bethel returns to action Friday and Saturday in the Rotary Classic in Jackson at historic Oman Arena. They meet No. 7 Westmont Friday at 8 p.m. The Cats close out the Classic Saturday at 8 p.m. against No. 19 MidAmerica Nazarene University.
