MCKENZIE, Tenn. –For the second time in three days the Lady Wildcats squared off against a top ten ranked team. Bethel played host to No. 10 Mobile Saturday after falling 4-0 to No. 4 William Carey Thursday night in Hattiesburg. The Lady Rams dealt the Lady Cats their second straight loss with a 1-0 decision.
It was a heartbreaker for Bethel as Mobile's Colleen Kennedy scored with just 3:13 left to give the Rams the win. Mobile's defense was stifling in the second period holding Bethel without a shot or a shot on goal. Bethel's defense was also superb holding the Rams to just two shots on goal in the second stanza.
The Lady Wildcats battled the Lady Rams to a scoreless first period. Mobile had a 7-3 advantage in shots and a 3-2 shots on goal margin.
Mobile wound up with a 13-3 shot advantage and a 5-2 shots on goal advantage.
Bethel fell to 11-4 overall and 3-3 in SSAC play. Mobile improved to 12-3 and 5-1.
Seniors Katie Brown, Danielle Krzyzaniak, Melinda Sopka, Natani Tomlinson-Traill and Michelle Minchella were honored in pre-game ceremonies. The seniors have helped lead Bethel to one of their more successful seasons in recent years.
Bethel closes out the regular season at No. 1 ranked Martin Methodist Saturday with play beginning at 1:30 p.m.
