Volleyball Season Preview 2025

MCKENZIE, Tenn. -The 2024 Bethel University Volleyball team finished the season with a 13-12 overall record and a 3-8 mark in the Mid-South Conference. The team made it to the MSC Championship Tournament as the No. 6 seed but fell to Campbellsville University in the first round.

Looking ahead to 2025, Bethel will field a relatively young team with several new players joining the squad. Key returners include Setareh Valibeygi, Mackenzie McCammon, and Kennedi Morrison, who will be instrumental in leading the team this season. The addition of several newcomers, both freshmen and transfers, will bring fresh talent and energy to the program.

The Volley Cats are set to play a 28-match schedule this season. The season kicks off at home with a tri-match against Union University and Ouachita Baptist University on August 23rd. Bethel will then travel to Owensboro, Kentucky, to compete in the Brescia Classic, closing out the month with three matches.

In September, the Cats will play ten matches, including two Mid-South Conference matchups. The first of these will be against their longtime rival, Cumberland University, in Lebanon, Tennessee.

October will feature another ten matches, with seven of those being conference contests. Five of those games will be played at home in Crisp Arena, giving fans plenty of opportunities to cheer on the team.

Bethel will conclude the regular season with two home conference games in Crisp Arena before preparing for what they hope will be a strong showing in the Mid-South Conference Tournament, which begins November 13th in Bowling Green.

Coach Michele Cunha begins her first season as head coach of Bethel Volleyball after several years as the team's assistant coach. She will be assisted by newcomer, Momoko Yokoyama.

Coach Cunha commented, "We are excited about this upcoming season. I am so grateful to have been an assistant under Coach Starla Cupples and worked with her for the past several years. We feel we have a good squad and look forward to the challenge of a new era for Bethel Volleyball."
