Volley Cats Fall in Regular Season Finale

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -The Bethel Volleyball team lost a heartbreaker in their last regular season game falling to Cumberlands Saturday night in Williamsburg.

The Cats fell in five sets, 17-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-23, 6-15.

Hannah McGowan led Bethel with 24 kills and 23 digs. Nayeli Vilchez had 59 assists and 21 digs. Ashely Sommerfeld had 14 kills. Dominika Skoneczna had 10 kills and nine digs. Sami Parker finished with 24 digs.

 Bethel finished the regular season at 20-9 and 7-8.

The Wildcats had the best road record in the league at 10-3.

UC moved to 22-8 and 9-5.

Coach Starla Cupples said she was proud of the effort and looks forward to the upcoming MSC Tournament. "We fell short in a five-set battle. We had some costly mistakes in crucial moments but that's the game of volleyball. Momentum is the key. I am proud of the season these young ladies had and I know we can compete well in the tournament.

Campbellsville will be the top seed in the MSC Volleyball Tournament which begins on Thursday, November 10 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The full tournament bracket will be released following the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday.
