Volley Cats Hand Coach Cupples 300th Career Win
PULASKI, Tenn. – After dropping set one, the Bethel Lady Wildcats stormed back beating UT Southern 3-1 Tuesday afternoon in Pulaski.
The FireHawks pulled away early in set one and won 25-14. The Cats bounced back and won 25-17, 25-22 and 25-22.
The win was the 300th career victory for Coach Starla Cupples.
Hannah McGowan, the MSC Player of the Week this past week had 16 kills and 20 digs. Nayeli Vilchez, a key component in Bethel's success this season had 33 assists and 12 digs. Two other rock-solid performers on the season, Dominika Skoneczna and Sami Parker had good efforts. Dom had 12 kills while Sami had 13 digs.
It was Bethel's fourth win in a row and moved their record to 16-5 overall and 5-4 in the MSC. Bethel has won seven of their last eight. It was the second time this season the Cats have beaten the Hawks. They won 3-1 on September 20 in Crisp Arena.
UTS fell to 10-16 and 3-6.
Coach Cupples commented, "This was a good road win for us. UTS is a tough place to play but our ladies stayed focused and pulled together to get the win. I like the way we are playing right now, and we hope to keep it up Thursday when we face another tough road match at Cumberland."
Bethel is an impressive 8-1 in road action this year.

The Cats are back in action Thursday traveling to Cumberland University for a 7 p.m. match.
