Volley Cats Split in Day One Action at Milligan Mountain Madness
MILLIGAN, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats entered action Friday morning in the Milligan Mountain Madness unbeaten at 4-0.
The Cats remained unblemished early in the day with a 3-1 win over the host school Milligan. Bethel won 23-25, 25-23, 25-19 and 25-16. The 5-0 mark is the best start for Bethel since 2016.
Nayeli Vilchez continued her torrid play with 44 assists in the win. Dominika Skoneczna had 16 kills and 10 digs. Hannah McGowan finished with 11 kills and 11 digs. Ashley Sommerfeld contributed with 10 kills.
The Lady Cats met Blue Mountain in a late afternoon affair. They suffered their first loss of the season falling 22-25, 23-25, 27-25 and 16-25 to the Toppers.
McGowan had six kills and is now just 24 from being the all-time program leader in kills. Her 19 digs put her just six from second on the all-time digs list. Skoneczna had 19 digs. Sami Parker had 14 digs while Vilchez finished with 17 assists and 11 digs.
Bethel plays Keiser Saturday at 11 a.m. and then wraps up their play at 1:30 p.m. versus St. Andrews.
