Volley Cats Fall to Phoenix in Crisp
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats played host to Cumberland University Tuesday in Crisp Arena.
It proved to be a tough match for both squads with the visitors winning out in the end 3-2.
The short-handed Lady Cats fell 25-18, 23-25, 27-25, 11-25, and 8-15. It was the second loss to CU on the season. The Phoenix won 3-1 in Lebanon earlier this year.
Bethel dropped to 8-12 overall and 2-11 in the MSC. Cumberland improved to 24-9 and 9-5.
Bethel's Nayeli Vilchez had a super match with 38 assists and 20 digs. She leads the team in assists with 378 on the year. Hannah McGowan was solid with 22 kills and 15 digs. McGowan is the team leader in kills with 261. Dominika Skoneczna had 11 kills and 11 digs. Madelyn Woods contributed with 26 digs. Ashley Sommerfeld finished with 10 kills.
The Lady Wildcats hit the road Thursday traveling to Columbus, Mississippi to meet Mississippi University for Women with action beginning at 6 p.m. Bethel beat MUW 3-0 in early September in Crisp Arena.
