Volley Cats Beat Florida College for Second Win on Day

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After beating Union College in their season opener (three sets to two) at the Vette City Classic in Bowling Green Friday morning the Bethel Volley Cats met Florida College in the afternoon session.

Much like the morning match the Lady Cats found themselves in a tight and intense match against the Falcons.

Bethel took set one 26-24. Florida College grabbed set two, winning 25-22. Using a late rush, the Falcons won set three, 25-23. Just like they did versus Union, the Lady Cats captured set four in big fashion winning 25-14. The decisive fifth set saw Bethel win 15-10.

Brookelyn Davis led Bethel with 24 assists. Hannah McGowan followed up her outstanding morning performance with 18 kills. Nayeli Vilchez had 18 assists and finished with 34 on the day. Dominika Skoneczna had 17 Bethel digs.

Coach Starla Cupples commented, "It was another five set battle. We fought hard and made big plays when we had to. We need to be more consistent but that will come with more time together."

Saturday the Lady Wildcats meet Brescia at 4:30 p.m. and close out the weekend meeting Indiana-Southeast at 7 p.m. The matches are being played at the Ephram White Gym.
