Bethel University Women’s Tennis Team Honored Among 2025 ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams
MCKENZIE, Tenn. - In a year marked by academic excellence and athletic achievement, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) proudly announced the 2025 NAIA Women's ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams. The ITA, a long-standing advocate for the student-athlete experience, emphasized the critical role of academia in shaping well-rounded collegiate athletes. This year's honors highlight the dedication and discipline that continue to define student-athletes across the nation.
Among the standout programs, the Bethel University Women's Tennis Team earned a distinguished spot as one of only 24 NAIA programs recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team. Out of 207 NAIA women's tennis programs, Bethel's achievement reflects an extraordinary commitment to both competition and the classroom. With a remarkable 3.6 team GPA, the Lady Cats exemplified the ITA's ideal of academic and athletic balance.
Individually, five Lady Cats received the prestigious ITA Scholar-Athlete distinction, showcasing their hard work and personal commitment to excellence. The honorees included:
Martina Coghetto
These student-athletes not only competed fiercely on the court but also maintained high academic standards, meeting the ITA's rigorous criteria of a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the academic year.
Across the country, 191 NAIA women's student-athletes earned the ITA Scholar-Athlete title, proving once again that tennis players continue to raise the bar for what it means to be a student-athlete. Their success serves as an inspiring reminder that determination, time management, and passion can lead to excellence in all areas of life.
Coach Derrick Hubble commented, "The Bethel Women's Tennis Team's recognition is more than just a number—it's a celebration of integrity, perseverance, and the unique bond formed when teammates strive for greatness both on and off the court. As the 2025 academic year draws to a close, the Lady Cats have set a high standard for what it means to be champions in every sense of the word."
Bethel Director of Athletics Dave McCulley added, "We are extremely proud of Coach Hubble and our ladies who excelled on the courts and in the classroom. They have great passion and are committed to our university and their sport."
