Lady Cats Fall to No. 20 Life in Home Opener

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Bethel women's soccer battled unbeaten Life University Saturday morning at Walter Butler Stadium, ultimately falling 1–0 despite outshooting the visitors 19–15.

The match was evenly played in the first half, with both sides creating chances but neither finding the net. The breakthrough came in the 62nd minute when Kayla McMillian scored for Life off an assist from Lilja Bjorg Olafsdottir.

Bethel continued to apply pressure, recording 10 second-half shots, but Life goalkeeper Elora Niederpruem was outstanding, making 11 saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Audrey LaRue led Bethel with six shots, including three on target, while Anahi Tagle and Jacqueline Carbajal each added three attempts. Goalkeeper Alba Lopez Guerrero tallied three saves in the loss.

Life improves to 5-0-0, while Bethel moves to 1-4-0 on the season.

It was the fifth meeting between the two programs with Life holding a 3-0-2-mark margin in the series.

For Bethel, it was the second game this season versus a top 25 team. The Cats upset No. 23 Columbia College earlier in the year.

The Lady Cats travel to Oakland City on Monday to battle the Oaks at 5 p.m.
