Lady Soccer Cats & Missouri Baptist End in Deadlock
MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The (RV) Bethel Wildcats had a 2-1 margin with under a minute left in their match versus Missouri Baptist Saturday at Wildcat Stadium. The Cats could not hold on as MBU's Mara George scored with 34 seconds left to allow the Spartans to earn a 2-2 tie.
Bethel finished the day at 4-1-1 while Missouri Baptist left McKenzie at 3-3-2.
Despite having 6-1 shots on goal advantage in the first half, the Lady Cats and the Spartans were scoreless after the first period. Bethel also had a 7-2 margin in shots.
The Cats took a 1-0 lead at the 49-minute mark on a goal by Kelly Nunes. Elle Carson was credited with the assist.
With 32:50 left in the match the Spartans got the equalizer on a goal by Madi Dunahue. Jamie Theusch had the assist.
The Wildcats took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Johanna Veldhuizen with 7:08 remaining. Aracett Solis had the the assist.
Each team had ten shots in the match. Bethel had a 12-8 advantage in shots on goal. Bethel's Alicia Perez had six saves in the match.
Bethel jumps back into action Thursday at home playing host to Pikeville. Action begins at 5 p.m.
