Lady Cats Beat Cumberland U-Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament Bracket Released

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Mid-South Conference officials released the 2026 MSC Women's Basketball Tournament bracket Saturday following the conclusion of the conference's regular season.

The conference tournament begins on Friday, February 27, with three quarterfinal games, culminating with the championship game on Monday, March 2. All games are scheduled to be played at Bowling Green Arena on the campus of Bowling Green High School.

In the tightly bunched conference standings, the conference tiebreaker was used twice to determine the tournament seeds.

Bethel (Tenn.) and Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) shared the regular-season championship during the season with 9-3 conference records. Campbellsville (Ky.) and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) tied for third in the standings with 7-5 marks.

In both ties, the teams split during the regular season, eliminating the first tiebreaker -- head-to-head competition.

The second tiebreaker is the record against the next-highest team in the standings. To break the first-place tie, the tie for third place must be broken first. According to the tiebreaker policy, the combined records of the teams tied for third place against the teams tied for first place are used.

Lindsey Wilson's record against Bethel and Freed-Hardeman during the season is 2-2, while Campbellsville's record against Bethel and Freed-Hardeman is 1-3. With a better record, Lindsey Wilson earns the No. 3 seed, while Campbellsville is the No. 4 seed.

With the third and fourth seeds set, Bethel earns the top seed based on the Wildcats' 2-0 season record against Lindsey Wilson, compared to Freed-Hardeman's 0-2 record against the Blue Raiders.

Georgetown (Ky.) is the No. 5 seed, Cumberlands (Ky.) is the No. 6 seed, and Cumberland (Tenn.) is the No. 7 seed.

Bethel (23-4, 9-3 in the MSC) earns the bye into the semifinals on Sunday, March 1.

The tournament begins at 2:30 p.m. CT on Friday, February 27, as Campbellsville (22-6, 7-5) meets Georgetown (21-7, 6-6) in the first quarterfinal. No. 2-seed Freed-Hardeman (24-3, 9-3) faces Cumberland (15-13, 1-11) at 5 p.m. CT, and third-seed Lindsey Wilson (21-7, 7-5) plays Cumberlands (18-10, 3-9) at 7:30 p.m. CT in the nightcap.

The Campbellsville-Georgetown winner plays Bethel in Sunday's first semifinal at noon CT. the Freed-Hardeman-Cumberland winner meets the Lindsey Wilson-Cumberlands winner at 2:30 p.m. CT in the final semifinal.

The championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT on Monday, March 2.

The tournament champion receives the conference's automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament later in March.

Lady Cats Close Regular Season with Statement Road Win at Cumberland

Lebanon, Tenn. -The Lady Cats capped the regular season in dominant fashion Saturday afternoon, rolling past Cumberland University 74-54 on the road to finish 24-4 overall and 9-3 in conference play.

After a steady but workmanlike first half, Bethel delivered a decisive third-quarter surge that put the game out of reach and underscored why the Lady Cats enter postseason play with momentum. Bethel led 32-22 at the break, holding Cumberland to just 27.3 percent shooting in the first half. The separation came in the third quarter, when the Lady Cats exploded for 23 points while shooting a blistering 69.2 percent from the floor and 60 percent from beyond the arc. The defensive effort matched the offensive efficiency, as Cumberland was limited to 13 points in the frame.

Micah Hart once again paced the Lady Cats with a stellar performance, pouring in 30 points on 13-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. She added seven rebounds and a block in 30 minutes of action, controlling the tempo and providing a steady scoring presence throughout. Mikee Buchanan added 14 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while Madison Hart chipped in 12 points and three rebounds. MJ Simmons contributed eight points and five boards, and Hallie Turner filled the stat sheet with six rebounds and five assists.

Bethel's balanced effort was evident across the box score. The Lady Cats outrebounded Cumberland 42-31, outscored them 28-16 in the paint, and converted 16 points off 14 turnovers. Defensively, Bethel held the Phoenix to just 28.6 percent shooting from the field and 26.1 percent from three-point range. Cumberland (15-13, 1-11) struggled to find offensive rhythm against Bethel's pressure and interior defense. Emaleigh Tarpley led the home side with 12 points and eight rebounds, but the Lady Cats' defensive rotations and disciplined half-court sets consistently forced tough looks.

Head coach Chris Nelson praised his team's focus and second-half execution. "I'm really proud of the way our group responded after halftime," Nelson said. "We challenged them to raise our defensive intensity and trust the extra pass on offense, and I thought the third quarter showed exactly who we can be when we're locked in. Micah set the tone, but it was a complete team effort. That's the kind of basketball we need heading into the postseason."
