Women’s Basketball Visits Cumberland University Thursday

LEBANON, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats travel to Lebanon Thursday night to meet the Phoenix of Cumberland University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT.

It will be the second meeting of the year between the two teams. Bethel beat CU 86-59 on January 9 in McKenzie. Balanced scoring and a defense which forced the Phoenix into 20 turnovers were major factors in the victory. The Lady Cats had a 33-12 advantage in points off turnovers.

Hallie Turner and Micah Hart led Bethel with 14 points each. Mikee Buchanan had 11 points. Kylie Reynolds tossed in 10 points while Madison Hart had nine tallies and a team high six rebounds. Kalynn Howard had nine points off the bench. The Cats hit 12 three-pointers in the game and were 19-of-27 from the free throw line. Mariyah Person led CU with 13 points.

The Lady Cats enter the game 18-4 overall and 3-4 in the MSC. Bethel is 9-3 on the road this season.

Cumberland is 8-13 and 0-6. The Phoenix has dropped seven straight. Five of those games have been losses to teams ranked in the top twenty.

Bethel leads the series 12-9 and is 4-4 in games played in Lebanon.

Sidenote to the game:

Bethel's Madison Hart captured the MSC Player of the Week award again this past week.

● Hart continued her brilliant play with a career-high 36 points and 11 rebounds in Bethel's win over LWC. She was 14-of-14 from the free throw line.

● Hart's two rebounds in the first quarter gave her 500 career rebounds, She became the 18th player in program history with 500 or more career rebounds.

● Hart now earns this honor for the second week in a row as the Wildcats move to 18-4 on the season.
