Lady Cats Drop Exhibition at UNA
FLORENCE, Ala.-The Bethel Lady Wildcats opened the second half of their season Saturday traveling to North Alabama for an exhibition against the Lady Lions. UNA won 84-54.
The first quarter featured five ties before the Lions pulled away late in the quarter to lead 25-18 at the end of the first.
UNA led by as many as 14 in the second quarter, but the Cats were able to hang tough behind the scoring of Madison Hart (10) to only trail 44-32 at the half.
Bethel shot 45 percent in the first twenty minutes, but UNA shot 52 percent from the floor. UNA dominated the boards with a 26-9 advantage in the half. The Lions had a 10-2 margin in second chance points.
Bethel trailed by 25 late in the third quarter. The Cats managed to cut the deficit to 19 at 68-49 at the end of the quarter.
The Lions pulled away in the fourth to win 84-54.
UNA shot 52 percent from the field and hit six of 19 three-point attempts. Bethel was 6-of-20 from outside, The Lady Cats shot 34 percent from the floor. UNA had a 52-25 advantage in rebounds. A 19-4 margin in second chance points proved to be a key for UNA.
Hart led Bethel with 12 points. Charity Gallegos had a game high 25 points for the Lions.
No. 16 Bethel remained 12-0 on the season while UNA moved to 5-6 as the Lions counted the affair as a regular season game. The victory snapped a Lion three game losing streak.
The Lady Cats play Bryan College on Monday in Knoxville. The action begins at 4 p.m.
