Lady Wildcats Continue to Roll

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Bethel Lady Wildcats made it two wins in a row in the Campbellsville Classic and three in a row on the season with a 65-47 win over 14th ranked LSU-Shreveport Saturday.  The Cats had beaten Brewton-Parker 77-43 on Friday.

Bethel jumped out to an 8-0 lead only to see LSUS answer with a 12-0 run. Micah Hart nailed a three pointer to give the Cats a 16-15 lead at the end of the quarter.

Bethel pulled away in the second quarter and led at one point 26-17. The Cats led at the break 31-25. Hallie Turner and Mikee Buchanan sparked the Lady Cats with seven points each at the break.

Just like the third quarter against BPU, the Cats had another huge third quarter. Bethel opened the quarter with eight straight points to extend their lead to 39-25. The Lady Cats went on to lead 51-39 after three, Turner, along with Madison Hart and Kylie Reynolds led the charge with 10 points each at the end of the quarter.

The Wildcats extended their lead in the fourth to win handily.

Buchanan led the Cats with a double-double scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Turner had 11 points and seven assists. Reynolds and Madison Hart each finished with 10 points each. Micah Hart finished with nine points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.

The Lady Cats shot 42 percent from the floor, hit nine three-pointers, and had a 38-24 advantage in rebounding.

Coach Chris Nelson commented on the victory. "Today was another total team effort.  LSUS is a talented ball club with great coaches that you will see win a lot of games this season. We had different players step up at key moments tonight throughout the game. Our young team is learning to communicate more on both ends of the court and we feel like that is what has helped with the growth of this. We just have to keep the mentality of building on these early season wins and use it to be successful in future games."

The Lady Cats remain on the road visiting Brescia Tuesday. The tip-off in Owensboro is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
