Cats Host Cumberland in Opening Round of MSC Tournament

MCKENZIE, Tenn.- The Bethel Lady Wildcats host the Cumberland University Phoenix in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament Tuesday night in Crisp Arena. Bethel is 155-29 all-time in the history of the arena. 

Bethel (13-15, 9-13 MSC) is the tournament's eighth seed, while Cumberland (12-15, 8-14 MSC) is the ninth seed.

The Lady Wildcats and Phoenix meet for the second time in five days and the third time this season. Bethel and CU split their two regular season games.

Cumberland won 61-53 in overtime on Dec. 10 in Lebanon. Lindsey Freeman led the Phoenix with 18 points. Madison Hart was high scorer for the Lady Wildcats with 13 points.

Bethel won 66-45 on Feb. 16 at Crisp Arena. The Lady Wildcats had four players score in double digits and were led by Keely Morrow with 21 points. Lauren King tallied nine, most among the Phoenix squad.

Since 2003 Bethel leads the series 12-8. The Cats have won eight of the 11 games played in McKenzie.

The Bethel-Cumberland winner advances to the quarterfinals to play top seeded Campbellsville on Thursday at 5 p.m. in Bowling Green, Ky.
