Lady Wildcats Host Cumberland University on Senior Night

MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Bethel Lady Wildcats return home for their regular season finale Thursday playing host to Cumberland University. Tip-off is at 5:30 with senior ceremonies taking place before the tip-off.

The Cats are coming off an 86-46 victory at Wilberforce University Saturday afternoon in Wilberforce, Ohio. Bethel improved to 11-15 overall and 7-13 in the MSC.

The Phoenix will arrive with a 12-13 mark. CU is 8-12 in the MSC. Cumberland University has dropped two straight and four of their last five games.

 The Bethel Lady Wildcats dropped a heartbreaker in Lebanon back in December falling to the Phoenix 61-53 in overtime.

Bethel led 15-10 after the first quarter but the Phoenix fought back to lead 29-27 at halftime. Both teams scored ten points each in the third quarter. Bethel outscored the Phoenix 12-10 in the final frame. A Wildcat turnover and two CU free throws knotted the game in the closing seconds of regulation. The teams went to overtime tied at 49-49. CU had a 12-4 margin in overtime to win by eight.

In a very physical affair, both teams struggled from   the floor. Bethel was 18-of-60 at 30 percent. Cumberland was 19-of- 61 at 31 percent. The Cats hit nine threes of 33 attempts from deep. The Phoenix connected on five of 24 three-point attempts. Bethel hit eight of 10 free throw tries while CU hit 18 -of -22 attempts from the line.

CU had a 47-40 advantage in rebounds. The Cats had a 21-9 margin in points off the bench. 

Bethel's Madison Hart had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Anaya Patterson finished with 11 points.

Cumberland's Lindsey Freeman had a game high 18 points.

Bethel Graduate Student Keely Morrow who transferred from David Lipscomb University is 12 points shy of 1,000 in her collegiate career.

Bethel is 154-29 all-time in the ten-year history of Crisp Arena.

Madison Hart leads Bethel in scoring at 15.4 and rebounding at 6.6 per outing.

With his 361 wins, Coach Chris Nelson is 15th  in most wins by an active coach in the NAIA.

The Lady Wildcats have hit at least one three-pointer in 545 straight games.
