Lady Wildcats Hot Shooting Proves Too Much for LWC
McKenzie, Tenn.- Coming off a loss at home to #4 Campbellsville, the Bethel Lady Wildcats basketball team played host to Lindsey Wilson Saturday. The Lady Cats came out on top with a 73-63 victory inside of Crisp Arena.
At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wildcats were on top 18-14 and led at halftime with a 33-30 differential. The Cats moved to 152-26 all time in Crisp Arena. The Lady Wildcats led most of the game and finally started to pull away in the third quarter when they outscored the Blue Raiders 28-8. The rest of the game was all Bethel as the Lady Wildcats shot an outstanding 52% from three-point land which helped put the game out of reach.
The Lady Wildcats shot 39.7% from the field while the Blue Raiders were close behind shooting 38.6% from the field. The Lady Wildcats were 13-25 from beyond the arc while the Blue Raiders struggled from beyond the arc shooting 6-18 from the three-point line. An outstanding shooting performance by Bethel's Kalynn Howard helped catapult the Lady Wildcats forward. Howard shot 6-7 from the arc and 7-9 from the field which led her to a 20-point effort. Kalynn Howard also had three rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Keely Morrow led all scorers with 22 points in the game while also grabbing three rebounds and two assists. Reagan Blackburn also had 11 points, four assists and two rebounds.
Maleigha Oldham led the Blue Raiders with 22 points in the game.
Coach Chris Nelson commented, "I am very happy with our efforts today on the court. This was a game that we needed to win to help build our confidence moving forward in the season. I am proud of our ladies who came to play today. Kal came out today and knocked down some huge three-pointers for us which really helped us gain momentum. Overall, I am happy with how we played today. Now it is time to get ready to go on the road to take on a talented Pikeville team."
The Cats will be back in action at 4:30 p.m. this upcoming Thursday against a Bears team who is currently receiving votes.
