Lady Cats Host Blue Raiders

MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats remain at home Saturday playing host to the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. in Crisp Arena where Bethel is 151-28 in the ten year history of the building.

The Lady Cats are 7-11 overall and 3-9 in the MSC. Bethel is coming off an 71-57 loss to No. 4 Campbellsville. It was the fourth straight loss for the Wildcats. Bethel is 6-3 at home on the season.

Lindsey Wilson is 8-10 and 2-10. The Raiders are 2-5 in road action. LWC is coming off a 57-38 road loss at Freed-Hardeman.

 The Lady Wildcats lost to Lindsey Wilson 66-51 in early December in Columbia.  Bethel trailed 32-29 at the half but The Blue Raiders extended their margin to 50-40 after three quarters and the Cats could never close the gap. The Wildcats hit 13 of 16 free throw tries. A cold shooting night did the Cats in again as they shot 32 percent from the floor. Bethel hit just four of 24 three-point attempts. LWC shot 41 percent from the field and connected on seven three-pointers. Madison Hart led Bethel with 16 points and nine rebounds. Keely Morrow had 12 points. Kyla Taylor pulled down nine boards for the Wildcats. Lucy Patterson had a game high 17 points for the Raiders. Patterson also had a game high 15 rebounds.

It will be the 20th meeting between the two programs with Bethel leading the series 11-8.

Coach Chris Nelson is 357-180 and 15th in wins among active NAIA coaches. His teams have hit at least one 3-pointer in 537 straight games. Nelson has been a four-time finalist for both the WBCA National Coach of the Year and WBCA Regional Coach of the Year awards. He has been named the conference coach of the year five times during his career. Nelson was named WHoopDirt.com NAIA Coach of the Year presented by Pivot Analysis for the 2019-20 season. He was also named the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.

John B. Wethington is in his 34th season as the head coach of the Lindsey Wilson women's basketball program. Wethington ranks second on the NAIA's active coaches' all-time wins list with 677 career victories.
