Lady ‘Cats fall to No. 4 Campbellsville
MCKENZIE, Tenn. - After a two-game road trip, the Bethel Lady Wildcats returned home for the first time since Dec. 17. The Lady 'Cats played host to the No. 4 ranked Campbellsville University Lady Tigers. The Lady 'Cats fell to the Lady Tigers 71-57.
At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wildcat held a 10-8 lead over the Lady Tigers. The Lady 'Cats were scoreless until Madison Hart drove to the basket for two points with 5:30 left on the clock. Hart had eight of the ten points for Bethel in the first quarter.
The Lady Tigers took a 33-25 lead over the Lady Wildcats prior to halftime. Kaitlynn Wilks chalked up eight points for the Lady Tigers and was 4-6 in the paint and 2-2 from the line at halftime.
For Bethel, Reagan Blackburn added six points to the board during the second quarter. Keely Morrow added four points with a shot in the paint and two from the line.
During the third quarter, the Lady Tigers took a 13 point lead over the Lady 'Cats. A committee like effort from Campbellsville boosted them ahead.
Hart added seven points to the board for the Lady Wildcats during the third. The Lady 'Cats trailed 50-37 going into the final quarter.
The Lady Wildcats fell behind in the fourth quarter despite Hart's six point quarter. Kalynn Howard's and Morrow had five point efforts.
Campbellsville outscored Bethel 15-7 in the final quarter to take the 71-57 victory.
The Lady Tigers had a 47 field goal percentage. Wilks led Campbellsville with 16 points. Bailey Pedigo followed right behind Wilks with 15 points. Lauren Lee contributed 11 points to the Lady Tigers score.
The Lady Wildcats shot 36 percent from the floor. Bethel had a total of 34 rebounds with 17 on both sides of the ball.
Hart led Bethel with 23 points going 10-for-16 in the game. Morrow contributed 11 points.
Bethel dropped to an overall record of 7-11 and 3-9 in the Mid- South Conference. The Lady Tigers moved to 16-1 and 10-1.
Coach Chris Nelson commented, " I thought we played well at times and received great efforts from everyone. Give Campbellsville a lot of credit. They made plays when they had to and that was the difference. They are so well coached. I feel we are getting closer and closer in putting it together. I like my team and feel good about what we still can accomplish this season."
The Lady Wildcats will play host to the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders Saturday, Jan. 14. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. at Crisp Arena.
