Lady Cats Host No. 4 Campbellsville

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – After a two game road trip, the Bethel Lady Wildcats return home for the first time since December 17th, playing host to the No. 4 Campbellsville Tigers Thursday. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. in Crisp Arena. Bethel is 151-27 all-time in Crisp.

Bethel is 7-10 overall and 3-8 in the league. The Cats are 6-2 at home on the year. Bethel has lost three games in a row. The Cats are coming off a 63-59 road loss at the University of the Cumberlands.

Campbellsville is 15-1 and 9-1 on the year. The only loss was a recent road loss (66-78) at No. 1 Thomas More. The Tigers are coming off an 83-45 home victory over Wilberforce.

The Tigers pinned a 105-68 loss on the Cats in early December in Campbellsville. Campbellsville entered the game as the best shooting team in the nation. The Lady Tigers followed that theme throughout the first half. CU shot 64 percent from the floor and knocked down 11 three-pointers enroute to a 57-35 lead at the break. Bethel shot the ball well at 44 percent. The Wildcats had four treys but had 10 turnovers which led to 18 points by the Tigers. Madison Hart had 11 first half points. Campbellsville increased their lead in the third stanza and led 83-50 heading into the fourth. Bethel could never close the gap in the final frame. The Cats shot 41 percent and nailed ten three-pointers, but Campbellsville would finish with 15 three-pointers. The Tigers shot 61 percent in the game. CU scored 33 points off 18 Bethel turnovers. The Tigers finished with 29 assists in the win. Hart led Bethel with 21 points. The Tigers had four players finish in double figures with Elizabeth Bertram leading the way with 15 points.

Campbellsville has won ten of the last 11 meetings between the two and owns a 15-3 advantage in the series. Bethel beat the Tigers 61-50 January 20. 2022. Campbellsville is 5-3 in McKenzie in the series.

The Cats average 65.1 and yield 67.8 points per game. Freshman Madison Hart leads the team in scoring at a 16.6 clip per outing. Keely Morrow averages 13.1 points per game.

Coach Chris Nelson is 357-179 and 15th in wins among active NAIA coaches. His teams have hit at least one 3-pointer in 536 straight games. Nelson has been a four-time finalist for both the WBCA National Coach of the Year and WBCA Regional Coach of the Year awards. He has been named the conference coach of the year five times during his career. Nelson was named WHoopDirt.com NAIA Coach of the Year presented by Pivot Analysis for the 2019-20 season. He was also named the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.

The Tigers are 5th in the nation in scoring at 85.1 points per game. They yield 60.7 points per game. Kaitlynn Wilks leads CU in scoring averaging 15.4 points per game. Wilks is shooting 67.8 from the floor which is the nation's best. Courtney Pritchett is 9th in the nation in three-point shooting at 48.5 percent. Pritchett is s second in scoring along with Maddy Boyle averaging 10.0 points per contest. CU leads the nation in field goal percentage at 49 percent. 

Ginger High Colvin is in 16th season as head coach of the Campbellsville University Lady Tigers.
High Colvin has led Campbellsville to a pair of NAIA Fab Four appearances. Her squads have won 20 or more games 14 of her 15 years as head coach of the Tigers.  Colvin has captured six MSC titles. Colvin has a career mark of 430-94.
