Hot Shooting Saints Prove to Be Too Much for Lady Cats
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The No.1 ranked Thomas More Saints hit five three pointers and shot 56 percent in the first quarter and that set the stage in what would be the pattern throughout the entire game as they beat the Bethel Lady Wildcats 90-52 Saturday afternoon in Crisp Arena.
TMU would go on to hit 19 three-pointers and shoot 54 percent from the floor. The Saints finished with 21 assists in the game.
Compounding the problem for the Lady Cats was a cold shooting night on their side of the ledger. Bethel shot 30 percent and hit just two three-pointers. The Cats hit 20-of-27 free throw attempts.
TMU had a 33-27 margin in rebounds.
Keely Morrow led Bethel with 15 points. Madison Hart finished with 10 points.
Courtney Hurst was one of four Thomas More players in double figures and finished with a game high 19 points. Hurst had a game high seven three-pointers.
Bethel dropped to 7-8 overall and 3-6 in the MSC.
Thomas More remained undefeated at 14-0 and 10-0.
Coach Chris Nelson commented, "It was a tough day. Thomas More is very talented and well coached. They shoot the ball with such great confidence. We did not defend well and gave them to many open looks. We will keep grinding and figure out what it is going to take to turn things around. We wish our fans a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and thank them for their support."
The Wildcats are off until January 5th when they travel to No. 24 Georgetown.
