Lady Wildcats Host Wilberforce

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats will play host to the Wilberforce University Bulldogs Thursday night in Crisp Arena. Bethel is 150-26 in the ten-year history of the building. The first of those wins was ten years ago when Bethel beat Wilberforce 74-60 in the first game ever played in the arena.

It will be the third meeting between the two programs. The last time they met was in 2017 with Bethel winning 82-64 in Crisp.

The Wildcats enter the game at 6-7 and 2-5 in the Mid-South Conference.

The Bulldogs are 2-9 and 0-7. Wilberforce has dropped eight straight.

Bethel is averaging 65.9 and yielding 65.8 points per game. The Cats are shooting 39.4 percent from the field. Bethel is shooting 25.6 percent from behind the three-point arc and 75.4 percent from the free throw line. The Cats are outrebounding their opponents 35-33 per outing. Bethel's opponents are shooting 39 percent from the floor and 31 percent in their three-point attempts.

Madison Hart leads Bethel in scoring at 16.8 points per game. The freshman also averages a team high 7.6 rebounds per contest. Keely Morrow is second in scoring at 13.5 points per outing. Kalynn Howard leads the team in assists at three per game.

The Bulldogs average 57.0 and yield 70.8 points per game. Wilberforce shoots 40.0 percent from the floor. The Bulldogs average 27.6 percent from three-point land. The Dogs shoot 65.4 from the free throw line. WU is being outrebounded 37-26 per game.

Kadri Greene-Tucker leads the Dogs in scoring at 18.6 points per game.

Coach Chris Nelson has a career mark of 356- 176 which ranks him 15th in wins among active coaches in the NAIA. Coach Nelson is in his 17th year as head coach of the Cats.
