Lady Cats Host UPIKE in Regular Season Finale & Senior Day
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The (RV) Bethel Lady Wildcats close out their regular season Saturday at home against the visiting UPIKE Bears. It will be Senior day at Crisp Arena with ceremonies taking place before tip-off which is scheduled for 2 p.m. Both squads will be competing for seedings in next week's Mid-South Conference Championships.
After losing at home Thursday to Cumberlands, the Cats are 17-12 overall and 11-10 in the league. After winning at Freed-Hardeman Thursday night, the Bears are 17-11 and 11-10.
Bethel is 12-4 at home on the season and 143-25 all-time in Crisp Arena. Two of those home losses have been to UPIKE. Pikeville is 7-7 in road action on the year. Bethel has won six of their last eight while the Bears have won six of their last seven.
It will be the sixth meeting between the two programs with the Bears holding a 4-1 advantage in the series. UPIKE is 2-0 in McKenzie.
The teams met on January 6 in Williamsburg with UPIKE winning 75-61. The game was close until Pikeville pulled away using a 27-16 advantage in the final stanza to secure the victory.
UPIKE shot 45 percent from the field and 65 percent from behind the three-point line (11-17). Bethel shot 35 percent from the floor and hit seven three-pointers. The Bears had a 35-27 advantage in rebounds.
Millie Bryant led Bethel with a game high 20 points. Keely Morrow finished with 11 points while Mickey Head had 10 points. Jenna Foust had eight points, all in the second half.
Sierra Feltner led the Bears with 18 points. A.J. Reed hit several huge three-pointers in the second half and finished with 16 tallies for the Bears.
Bethel's Bryant enters the game with 1,367 career points and 626 career rebounds. She is 8th in program history in scoring and 9th in career rebounds. Earlier this season she became just the 10th Lady Cat to score 1,000 points or more and collect 500 rebounds or more.
Head enters the contest with 885 career rebounds and 273 career blocks. She has 1, 264 career points with 781 of those as a Lady Wildcat.
Bryant leads Bethel in scoring at 13.3 points per game. Ryan Roberts follows at 12.9 points per outing. Morrow pops in 11.9 per contest.
Bethel averages 61.9 and yields 59.0 points per game.
Mary Englert leads the Bears at a clip of 14.6 per game while Morgan Stamper is good for 13.8 points per contest. Feltner averages 10.4 while Bailey Frazier averages 10.3 points per outing. Pikeville averages 73.9 and allows 68.2 points per game.
