Lady Cats Begin Road Trip with Win at Shawnee State

PORTSMOUTH, OH- The (RV) Bethel Lady Wildcats began a three-game road trek with a visit to MSC foe Shawnee State Thursday night. Using a 21-6 first quarter advantage, Bethel won their fifth straight with a 71-44 victory.

Bethel moved to 16-10 overall and 10-8 in the MSC. The Lady Cats captured their seventh win in their last eight outings. The Bears lost their sixth straight and fell to 4-16 and 3-13.

The Lady Cats would lead 37-23 at halftime and go on to win beat SSU for the second time on the season. Bethel beat SSU in McKenzie earlier 80-52. It was the fifth meeting between the two with Bethel leading the series 5-0.

Bethel shot 41 percent from the floor. The Bears shot 26 percent. The Cats knocked in 12 three-pointers while SSU struggled from the outside on 5-of-20 attempts. Bethel had a 43-32 rebound advantage and remained unbeaten when they win the battle of the boards.

Keeley Morrow had a career high 24 points.  Morrow also grabbed eight rebounds.  Mille Bryant had 11 points. Jenna Foust was in double figures with 10 points.  Mickey Head collected nine boards while Kyla Taylor had a game high 10 rebounds.

Bethel had four players with six rebounds or more.

Marnae Holland led SSU with 12 points.

Millie Bryant finished the game with 1,333 career points and 615 career rebounds. She is 10th in program history in scoring and 10th in career rebounds. Earlier this season she became just the 10th Lady Cat to score 1,000 points or more and collect 500 rebounds or more

Mickey Head finished the contest with 862 career rebounds and 268 career blocks. She has 1, 243 career points with 760 of those as a Lady Wildcat.

The Lady Wildcats visit No. 2 Thomas More Saturday and rival Tennessee Southern Monday.
