Lady Wildcats Win Second Straight Road Game
MARIETTA, Ga. –After losing their first six road games of the season, the Bethel Lady Wildcats made it two road wins in a row with a 67-47 win at Life University Thursday. It marked the second victory of the season over the Eagles. Bethel beat LU 62-36 earlier in the year in Crisp Arena.
Bethel now leads the series 5-0. The Lady Cats are 2-0 in Marietta.
The Cats moved to 13-10 overall and 7-8 in the MSC. It was Bethel's fourth win in their last five games.
Life dropped to 6-17 and 2-13. It was the fourth straight loss for the Eagles.
Bethel led 19-10 at the end of the first quarter. The Cats led 35-16 at one point of the second quarter before Life rallied and cut the Cat margin to 39-27 at the half. Ryann Roberts led the Cats with 15 points in the half. Keely Morrow had 10 at the break. Bethel hit six of their first 12 three-point attempts and finished with seven three pointers in the first twenty minutes.
The Cats did not allow Life to get back in the game in the third, outscoring the Eagles 14-3 to take a commanding 53-30 lead headed to the fourth.
The Wildcats continue to be unbeaten when leading at the half at 11-0.
Bethel shot 40 percent from the field. They finished with nine made three-pointers. The Cats had a 41-33 rebound advantage and forced Life into 16 turnovers. The Eagles shot 32 percent from the floor.
Roberts finished with a game high 17 points. Morrow had 16 while Jenna Foust added 13 tallies on the night. Millie Bryant had nine points, a team high five assists and a game high 11 rebounds. She now has 595 career rebounds which moves her to 10th in program history. Mickey Head had eight boards and three blocks. Madison Henegar pulled down six rebounds.
Tanit Calsapcu led Life with 15 points.
The Lady Cats return home for the first time in two weeks with a 2 p.m. game Saturday versus UT Southern.
