Lady Wildcats Capture First Road Win of Season

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Behind the scoring of Millie Bryant and Jenna Foust, the Bethel Lady Wildcats captured their first road win of the season Saturday, beating Lindsey Wilson 70-60.   

Lindsey Wilson jumped out to an 8-2 lead, but Bethel battled back to tie the game at 14 all at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw four lead changes as the teams found themselves tied at 31 at the half. Foust led Bethel in the half with 10 points. LWC's Hailey Ison led all scorers with 12 points. 

Bethel opened the third quarter with two big three-pointers by Bryant and Kalynn Howard. Bethel led 37-31. After a layup by Ryann Roberts, the Cats led 39-31. The Raiders rushed back to tie the game at 44 at the end of three.

Bethel outscored LWC 26-16 in the fourth to capture the ten-point victory. The win marked the second time on the year Bethel has beaten the Raiders by ten. They won 76-66 in Crisp Arena in November. Bethel leads the series 11-7.

Bethel is 8-2 when scoring 70 or more points in a game this season.

Bryant scored 14 of her team leading 20 points in the second half. She also had a game high nine rebounds. Foust followed with 17 points. Keely Morrow hit several big shots and finished with nine points. Roberts and Howard both contributed with seven points each. Mickey Head had six points and seven rebounds. Kyla Taylor pitched in with four points.

Ison had a game high 24 points.

Bethel shot 43 percent from the floor and hit eight three-pointers. The Cats were 12-of-16 in free throw attempts. The Cats had a season high eight steals in the game. LWC shot 39 percent and 18-of-24 free throw tries.

Bethel moved to 12-10 and 6-8 in the MSC.  LWC dropped to 11-8 and 6-5.

The Lady Cats are back in action Thursday at Life University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. CST in Marietta.
