Big Night for Millie Bryant but Cats Fall at Georgetown

Lady Cats Come Up Short in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats returned to action Thursday night traveling to Georgetown, Kentucky to face the Tigers of Georgetown. It was the first of two straight MSC road games for the Lady Cats.

Both squads received votes in the NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll released earlier this week.

The Tigers prevailed, beating the Cats 69-52. Bethel dropped to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the league. The Tigers remained unbeaten (6-0) at home and improved to 8-1 and 3-1.

Senior Millie Bryant tossed in 11 first quarter points which enabled Bethel to lead 15-13 after the first ten minutes. The Tigers outscored the Cats 16-6 in the second and grabbed a 29-21 margin at halftime. Georgetown continued their momentum in the third and led 53-32 at the end of the three.

Bethel was 21-of-53 from the floor at 39 percent. The Cats hit only four three-pointers on 18 attempts. GC was 28-of-64 from the field at 43 percent. The Tigers struggled from outside hitting just four treys on 19 attempts. GC had a 36-32 rebound advantage.

Bryant had a career high 32 points and collected eight rebounds. Mickey Head had eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Izzy Lamparty led the Tigers with 18 points.

Bethel played the game without starting guard and leading scorer Ryann Roberts who was out with an injury.

Two Bethel seniors, Mickey Head and Millie Bryant continue to stamp their names in the record book in their respective careers.

With her 32 points, Bryant has 975 career points. Only 18 players have scored 1, 000 points or more in program history. After her eight rebounds, Millie has 504 career rebounds. She became the 16th Lady Cat to have 500 or more career rebounds. Only nine players have scored 1,000 points or more and grabbed 500 rebounds or more as a Lady Wildcat. Bryant has 231 assists which is tied for 15th in program history. She has 153 career three- three pointers which is 12th in program history.

After the GC game, Head has 1,127 career points. After transferring from Martin Methodist, she has 554 of those in a Wildcat uniform. She has 759 career rebounds and 238 assists. Mickey has 129 blocks at Bethel giving her 222 in her career.

The Cats continue the road trip traveling to No. 1 Campbellsville Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. CST.

It will be the 16th meeting between the two programs with Campbellsville leading the series 13-2. Bethel is 0-5 in Campbellsville.

The remodeled basketball court within the Powell Athletic Center will be dedicated to legendary Campbellsville women's basketball head coach Dr. Donna Wise before the game.
