No. 18 Cumberlands Sweeps Softball Doubleheader & Series in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats dropped   both games of their doubleheader Saturday to the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg.

 The Cats dropped game one of the three game series Friday falling 9-0 to the Pats.

The Pats followed that up with another five-inning victory winning game one Saturday 8-0.

The Patriots scored three runs in the first and three runs in the third and then iced the game away with two tallies in the bottom of the fifth.

Cumberlands outhit the Lady Cats 11-3.

The Cats scored their first and only runs of the series in the first inning of game two. Kalani Hernandez had a two run RBI double.

Single runs by the Pats in the first and third innings tied the game at two.

A two-run homer by Grace Ross gave Cumberlands a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth.

The Pats would tack o five more runs in the sixth to win 9-2.

Cumberlands out hit the Cats 12-9.

The Wildcats dropped to 12-28 overall and 3-15 in the MSC.

The Patriots are 31 -14 and 11-4 in the league.

Bethel is 0-12 all-time versus Cumberlands.

The Lady Cats return home for a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday at 3 p.m. versus UT Southern.
