Tigers Sweep Lady Cats in Friday Doubleheader
MCKENZIE, Tenn. -The Bethel Lady Wildcats and the Campbellsville Lady Tigers began their three game weekend series Friday with a doubleheader at Lady Wildcat Park.
In game one the Tigers plated two runs in the first inning to grab the early lead.
Campbellsville scored again in the second to extend their margin to 3-0.
An error in each inning by the Lady Wildcats led to both Tiger runs.
The visitors added another run in the third to lead 4-0.
Another single run by the Tigers in the fifth extended the Campbellsville lead to 5-0.
Campbellsvlle broke the game open with five runs in the seventh to win 10-0.
The Tigers outhit the Wildcats 8-3. Bethel committed two errors in the loss.
Campbellsville's Emma Markham held the Lady Wildcats to just three hits in five innings. Ellie Coley entered the game in the sixth and held Bethel hitless in the three-hit shutout.
Markham picked up the win while Amelia Sherrill was charged with the Wildcat loss.
Game two saw Campbellsville outhit Bethel 9-3. The Tigers scored two runs in the third and fourth innings. They added a single run in the sixth to win 5-1. Lydia Jones drove in two Tiger runs.
Bethel's only run was in the fourth as a result of an RBI by Kalina Hernandez.
The Lady Cats committed four errors in the game. Campbellsville had two miscues.
Maleyia Prather was charged with the loss while Leah Holland picked up the Tiger win.
Bethel is 12-24 overall and 3-11 in the MSC. The Cats are 7-14 at home this season.
Campbellsville is 21-13 and 7-4 in the league.
Campbellsville has an 18-6 advantage in the series and has won 13 in a row between the two programs.
The teams will meet on Saturday for a single game to wrap up the series with play beginning at noon.
