Lady Cats Show Heart & Will with Dramatic Victory over No. 11 Lindsey Wilson
COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats and the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders wrapped up their three game MSC series Saturday in Columbia.
After a heartbreaking loss Friday afternoon, the Bethel Lady Wildcats showed their mettle and fortitude with a dramatic come from behind late inning victory Saturday over the Blue Raiders.
Trailing 1-0, the Lady Cats saw Kinsley Caruthers lead off the top of the seventh with a single. Kalina Hernandez then promptly slugged a two-run homer to give Bethel a 2-1 lead and eventual win by that score.
The Blue Raiders put the potential tying run at second in the bottom of the inning, but the Cats hung on for a much-needed win.
Key factors in the game were sterling pitching performances by Caruthers, Maleyia Prather, and Amellia Sherrill. Sherrill retired the last hitter while the trio held Lindsey Wilson to seven hits on the day. The Wildcats also had seven hits in the game.
Bethel improved to 9-20 overall and 3-9 in the league.
Lindsey Wilson is 29-4 and 7-2.
Bethel jumps back into action Tuesday hosting Blue Mountain at 4 and 6 p.m.
