Softball Season Ends with Loss to Cumberland University
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats saw their season end with a 7-6 heart breaking loss to Cumberland University Friday in the MSC Championships.
The Cats gave up six runs in the first inning to the Phoenix. Bethel responded with four runs in the third and two runs in the fifth to tie the game.
Amelia Sherill and Amee Benson drove in two runs each while Riley Sharp contributed driving in another run.
Cumberland outhit Bethel 7-4 in the game.
Cumberland won on a walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.
Bethel finished the season with a mark of 19-22.
The tournament continues through the weekend with the championship game scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, May 3. If the team that emerges from the consolation bracket wins on Saturday, the if-necessary championship game is at noon CT on Sunday, May 4.
The MSC tournament champion receives the conference's automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament.
