Campbellsville Sweeps Lady Cats to Close out Regular Season

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Bethel Lady Wildcats closed out their regular season this weekend in Campbellsville playing a three-game conference set.

Campbellsville scored four runs in the last two innings to edge the Cats 5-3 in game one Saturday. The Lady Tigers won both games on Sunday, 19-11 and 4-2.

In the first game Sunday the teams combined for 30 runs, 23 hits and six errors.

Campbellsville got off to a big lead in the game. The Tigers scored seven runs in the first on just two hits. They drew seven walks in the inning. Campbellsville followed with four runs on four hits in the second inning.

The Lady Cats scored seven runs on three hits in the top of the fourth.

Campbellsville answered with a two-run fourth to push their lead to 13-7.

Bethel plated four runs in the sixth to trail 13-11.

 The Lady Tigers blew the game wide open however with six runs in the bottom of the inning and went on to the 19-11 victory in six innings.

Bethel's Aniya Sims, Jaelyn Wiers, Riley Sharp (2), Amelia Sherrill (2), Madison Carey, Kinsley Caruthers (2) drove in runs in the game.

Campbellsville outhit the Lady Cats 14-9.

Caruthers suffered the Bethel loss.

Miranda Carnell gave the Lady Cats a 2-0 lead in game two with a two run double in the third inning.

The Tigers scored four runs on three hits and a Bethel error in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead. That would be the final score as Bethel suffered their fifth straight loss. The Cats have lost ten of their last 11 outings.

The Tigers outhit the Cats 10-6.

Amelia Sherrill was charged with the Wildcat loss.

The Lady Cats dropped to 18-20 overall and 5-13 in the Mid-South Conference.

The Lady Tigers are 26-14 and 10 8.

The MSC will release the upcoming conference championship bracket Sunday night.
