Lady Cats Fall in Game One of Three Game Series in Campbellsville
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Bethel Lady Wildcats are closing out their regular season this weekend in Campbellsville playing a three-game conference set.
Campbellsville scored four runs in the last two innings to edge the Cats 5-3.
Bethel took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. Kinsley Caruthers led the inning off with a single and later scored on a fielder's choice ground out off the bat of Jaelyn Wiers.
Campbellsville tied the game with a run in the fourth.
Pitcher Amelia Sherrill helped her own cause with a two-run RBI double in the top of the fifth, giving the Lady Cats a 3-1 lead.
Two runs in the bottom of the fifth by the Lady Tigers tied the game at 3-3.
The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to win.
Campbellsville outhit the Lady Cats 8-6. Sherrill suffered the hard luck loss for Bethel.
The Lady Cats dropped to 18-18 overall and 5-11 in the Mid-South Conference.
The Lady Tigers are 24-14 and 8-8.
The programs have met 19 times with Campbellsville holding a 13-6 advantage in the series.
The squads close out with a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at noon.
