Softball Drops Doubleheader to Lindsey Wilson
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats dropped both games of their doubleheader to Lindsey Wilson Friday afternoon. LWC won game one 6-5 and took the second game 7-1.
The Lady Cats jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game one. Madison Carey had an RBI single driving in Riley Sharp to give the Cats the early edge.
The Blue Raiders took a 3-1 lead with three runs in the top of the third. The Cats came right back in the bottom of the inning with three runs to take a 4-3 lead. Madison Carey had the big hit, driving in two runs with a double. She later scored on a Raider error.
LWC tied the game in the top of fourth.
Miranda Carnell drove in a run in the bottom of the fourth to give the Lady Cats a 5-4 lead.
The Blue Raiders plated two runs in the top of the sixth to regain the lead at 6-5.
Despite a couple of scoring threats by Bethel, the Blue Raiders held on for the 6-5 victory.
LWC outhit the Cats 12-9. Bethel left 10 runners on base. Ameila Sherrill suffered the Bethel loss.
LWC scored two runs in the top of the first in game two. The Cats plated a single run in the bottom of the frame.
The Blue Raiders blew the game open with four runs in the third. LWC added another run in the fifth.
LWC out hit the Wildcats 11-7. Kinsley Caruthers took the loss for the Cats.
The squads play a single game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Senior Day ceremonies will take place on Saturday at noon.
The Lady Cats are 17-15 overall and 4-10 in the MSC. Bethel has lost six games in a row.
Lindsey Wilson is 20-18 and 7-7.
Lindsey Wilson leads the all-time series 16-6.
