Lady Wildcats Drop Doubleheader to No. 4 Cumberlands
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The University of the Cumberlands arrived in McKenzie Monday afternoon ranked No. 4 in the nation, and they looked every bit worthy of that ranking.
The Patriots beat the Lady Cats 14-2 and 11-1. UC leads the all-time series between the two at 8-0.
Amme Benson slugged a two-run homer in the second inning for Bethel's only runs. The Pats answered with a 12 run third inning and won in five innings.
UC outhit the Wildcats 11-4.
Amelia Sherrill suffered the loss. Bethel committed six errors in the game.
An eight run fourth inning in game two propelled the Pats to another big win. UC outhit Bethel 12-4. Kinsley Caruthers suffered the Wildcat loss.
Bethel fell to 17-12 and 4-7 in the MSC.
Cumberlands moved to 28-6 and 11-0. The Pats have won 16 straight games.
The teams finish the three-game set by playing a single game on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
