UTS Sweeps Lady Wildcats

MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats fell to 15-9 dropping a doubleheader to visiting UT Southern Monday afternoon at Lady Wildcat Park.

The Firehawks won 8-5 and 14-1in five innings.

Game one saw the Lady Wildcats plate four runs in the bottom of the second. Madison Carey scored on a UTS error. Kinsley Caruthers followed with an RBI single. Kinsley Nichols drove in two runs later in the inning to give the Cats a 4-0 cushion.

The Firehawks scored three runs in the top of the fourth to make it 4-3. The Hawks took a 5-4 lead with two runs in the top of the sixth.

The Cats tied the game when Caruthers drove in a run in the bottom of the inning.

UTS won the game with three runs in the top of the seventh.

Bethel outhit UTS 12-8. The teams combined for five errors in the game. UTS had two while Bethel committed three in the game.

Ameila Sherrill suffered the Wildcat loss.

Game two was all UTS as they scored in each of the first three innings. The deciding inning was the third when the Hawks scored seven runs.

 Jaelyn Wiers had the lone Bethel RBI in the third inning.

Caruthers took the loss for the Cats.

UTS moved to 14-7. 

The Lady Wildcats jump back into league action Friday and Saturday. The Cats and Tigers play Friday at 2 in the first of two games. The teams play a single game on Saturday at 11 a.m.
