Softball Falls to FHU in Opening Game of Weekend Series
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Freed-Hardeman capitalized on timely hitting and steady pitching to secure a 9-4 victory over the Bethel Lady Wildcats Friday afternoon in McKenzie.
The Lady Cats dropped to 14-6 overall and 1-3 in the MSC. Freed moved to 6-9 and 1-3.
Freed-Hardeman struck early, plating a run in the first inning before unleashing a four-run outburst in the third. Bethel fought back with a run in the third and a three-run rally in the sixth, but it wasn't enough to overcome Freed-Hardeman's offensive onslaught.
Kinsley Nichols, Miranda Carnell, Amelia Sherrill, and Kinsley each drove in a run for Bethel. Sherrill suffered the Wildcat loss.
Bethel struggled defensively, committing four errors in the game.
The teams play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
