Lady Cats Take Two from Grace Christian in Run Rules

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats dominated in back-to-back matchups against Grace Christian College on Thursday at Lady Wildcat Park, securing two decisive victories via run rules. The twin wins improved Bethel's record to a perfect 6-0 on the season, while Grace Christian College fell to 0-2.

Game 1: Bethel 10, Grace Christian 2 (5 innings)

The Lady Wildcats wasted no time setting the tone in the opener, scoring in all but one inning and racking up 16 hits. Despite Grace Christian striking first with a run in the top of the first, Bethel responded immediately and never looked back. A seven-run fourth inning broke the game wide open, sealing the win in just five frames.

Amme Benson led the offensive charge with three hits and two RBIs, while Fallyn Jordan added a triple and two RBIs. Riley Sharp contributed a double and an RBI, and Kinsley Caruthers tacked on another run batted in. Bethel's speed on the bases was also a factor, with Lillyan Wortham and Jada Wynn swiping bags.

On the mound, Amelia Sherrill was in control, allowing just five hits and two earned runs over five innings while striking out five.

Final Line:

  • Grace Christian: 2 runs, 5 hits, 3 errors
  • Bethel: 10 runs, 16 hits, 1 error

Game 2: Bethel 10, Grace Christian 2 (5 innings)

The second game followed a similar script, as Bethel came out firing, plating four runs in the first and three more in the second to grab a commanding early lead. Grace Christian managed two runs in the third, but Bethel tacked on insurance runs late to finish the game via run rule once again.

Miranda Carnell and Riley Sharp provided the offensive fireworks, each driving in three runs. Sharp also collected three hits, including a double. The Lady Cats kept up their aggressive play, stealing another base and taking advantage of defensive miscues by Grace Christian, who committed eight errors in the contest.

In the circle, Kinsley Caruthers was dominant, striking out eight and allowing only four hits over five innings. She worked efficiently, throwing just 53 pitches while keeping Grace Christian's bats at bay.

Final Line:

  • Grace Christian: 2 runs, 4 hits, 8 errors
  • Bethel: 10 runs, 12 hits, 1 error

Coach Hannagan was pleased with the team's performance and emphasized their focus moving forward.

"I'm really proud of the way we came out and executed today," Hannagan said. "Our bats were alive, and we stayed aggressive on the bases. Defensively, we made plays when we needed to, and our pitchers did a great job keeping them off balance. This is the kind of energy we need to keep bringing every game."

With the wins, Bethel extended its unbeaten streak and continued to showcase its powerful offense and strong pitching. The Lady Wildcats will look to build on their momentum as they prepare for their next twin bill tomorrow hosting Grace Christian College.
