Softball Drops Doubleheader to Campbellsville in MSC Action

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats dropped a doubleheader to the visiting Campbellsville Lady Tigers at the Kahlden Complex in McKenzie Friday afternoon. The games were the first of the three-game MSC series between the two teams.

The Tigers took game one 4-0 and game two 9-6.

In game one, the (RV)Lady Tigers scored two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 2-0 lead. Campbellsville added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to win 4-0. The Tigers outhit the Lady Cats 9-2. Madison Carey had only two hits for the Cats. Bethel committed four errors in the game. Lauren Reimsnyder suffered a hard luck loss while Katy Chadwell hurled a two -hitter for the Tigers.

Bethel   took a 1-0 lead in game two on an RBI single off the bat of Hailey Cooner. The Lady Tigers scored three runs in the third to grab a 3-1 margin. Bethel's Maria Murdaugh cut the deficit to 3-2 with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning. The Tigers had two two-run homers in the fourth to push their lead to 7-2. CU scored another run in the sixth to lead 8-2. Bethel scored three runs in the sixth to cut the deficit to 8-5. Cooner drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Briley Auvenshine followed with a two-run single. Miranda Carnell doubled in the seventh and scored on a Murdaugh RBI single. Campbellsville outhit the Wildcats 11-9. Bethel committed three errors in the game. Kinsley Caruthers took the loss while Courtney Patterson was the winner for CU.

The Cats fell to 7-15 and 0-6 in the MSC. The Tigers moved to 16-9 and 7-3.

The teams play a doubleheader on Sunday at noon. It will be Youth Day at the park. All players/teams interested should be at the field at 11:30 a.m. dressed in their team uniform for the National Anthem and introductions. An autograph session with Bethel players will be held following the 2 p.m. game.
